We Are All Connected - Manurewa Arts Project by Manurewa Arts Project published on 2020-09-05T05:14:21Z "We are all connected" is a song which gives voice to some fo the views, youth in Manurewa expressed about unity and being one in the context of the human body. The song was made at one of the Ruhi training courses youth attended in the April school holidays. The lyrics of this song was inspired by the following study: Society can be likened to the human body. In fact, there is no other model that demonstrates better how society should work. In the human body, every cell, tissue and organ is connected to every other. The health of each affects the health of all. The pain of each is the pain of all. The well-being of the body depends on the well-being of each part. The principle that governs the functioning of the body is cooperation. Its various parts do not compete for resources; rather, each cell, from its inception, is linked to a continuous process of giving and receiving. If one member of the body is in distress, all the other members suffer also. When there is unity and reciprocity between the various parts, the whole body grows in strength. Acceptance of the oneness and interconnectedness of humankind requires a profound change in our thinking. Accepting the oneness of humanity demands that prejudices of all kinds - based on race, religion, nation, tribe, class, gender or education - must be totally eliminated. Prejudices are a major cause of suffering and affliction throughout the world. Any views that consider one group of people superior to another must be entirely rejected. Noble thoughts in themselves are not enough. They must be translated into action. Selfless service to our fellow human beings is a natural expression of acceptance of the principle of the oneness of humanity. The truth that humanity is one must be constantly taught and asserted through deeds. Comment by Sara Caswell love this. fantastic. 2021-08-24T14:04:00Z
